DEI: Definitely Earned It. Because you have to be twice as good to get half as far. - The Ancestors.

"DEI hire" also replaces "Affirmative Action hire" in the lexicon of dog-whistles for the racists.

It appears that the Republican Party is following their leader like any kindergarten school kid. Trump wins primaries by making up names so the voters will think that they have cooties.

If they make up names the other kindergarteners will vote for Trump.

I was hoping that VP Harris would be the chosen successor for Joe Biden to provide continuity to continue the great effort to bring manufacturing and other decent paying jobs back to the USA.

VP Harris is not only a capable person, she appeared to work closely with President Biden and since the President has a vested interest in our country, I am sure that he would be open to help if she does want a sounding board.

The fact that she is a woman of color is historic, but the fact that she is quite capable of doing the job is the important factor.

You do not realize how revolutionary that simple sentence fragment sounds, Steve. Thank you, from a woman.

Also, while at SAC Hq., my Colonel handled multiple issues with easy and her memory was outstanding. When I presented a computer communication presentation to the enlisted members of the comm sq, she asked for my slides and she presented the same presentation to the officers and didn’t miss any key points including the economic issues.

My pleasure- I rely on my wife to help make any major decisions and I have found that women are better at multi tasking then most men. Men seem to have a great capacity to focus on one area at a time.

When stationed in Germany, my wife knitted, knew what was on TV and also knew what our kids were doing in another room.

When I was a kid the early 60’s, diversity was pitched as what made us stronger: The USA is such hot shit, EVERYONE wants to be here.

An analogy: Iron, by itself is relatively weak and rusts in no time, but add a few “impurities” to that iron and you have steel that’s tough and will hold an edge under heavy use.

So saying Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are bad is silly in my book unless you’ve drunk the KoolAde and gone back with your own bucket. It’s parallel to spinning ANTIFA (ANTI-FASCISTs) into mobs of cannibalistic child molesters. Goebbels’ ghost is smiling and nodding its head.

We all know that America was built on Good Ole Boy networking and nepotism, which is hardly a meritocracy. I know White men who got jobs without an ounce of experience on a handshake because they "seemed like good folk!" Besides, hardly any job is based on merit alone. People look at whether the individual is a cultural fit, has a good personality, and all kinds of things. They can miss me with that mess.

DEI isn’t the new n-word if it’s also used for women, gay people, or other minority groups.

Is it unreasonable to assume someone who fails so badly to do their job might be a DEI hire? I mean, if you’re a straight white male and you screw up, you just suck at your job. No excuse. But if you’re anything other than that, maybe you were hired over someone more qualified to check a box or two in HR? Are you saying that’s not possible?

Definitions matter; yours seems hung up on politically correct, as if someone is shoving “being polite” down your unwilling throat? Years ago someone said “Politically correct,” PC, means polite, and that’s all.

In every circumstance I have felt that, to be PC is to be polite, true—shrug and move on. A preference for being in company that is unconsciously respectfully appropriate is socially okay.

High school students in line for the cafeteria or a movie, yakking together and one uses Fucking as an adjective, it is not uncomfortable for anyone, an adult or friend, to admonish them, it’s appropriate, “Fucking adds nothing enlightening in describing your car, weekend, or favourite girlfriend,” they smile, laugh, salute, nod, and they tone it down.

That young children or elderly may be intimidated by pointless emphasis over a stubbed toe or a spilled drink, is just socially acceptable, routine, and normal.

Be conscious who is around, who might feel intimidated in not knowing how to interpret one’s “strong language,” and who might misunderstand that what you have to say is unhappy—including interpreting it as a potentially lethal personality letting it be known that they can’t be trusted to remain hinged, within the period of time they are expected to be around.
