Here in the UK on Remembrance Sunday, millions gather at monuments throughout the country to honour the sacrifices made by our family members and friends in the conflict to defeat the horrors inflicted on the world by the Nazis in World War Two. The cruel irony cannot be ignored, that only days before, the American people in an unfathomable act of betrayal, elected as their president someone who embraced the ideals of the same cruel regime, their own countrymen died fighting against. By doing so they brought shame upon themselves, the memories of those fallen service members in Arlington and other war graves across the whole world. The attack on Pearl Harbor was described by the president of that time as “a date that will live in infamy.” Well for me this election result is a comparable act of self inflicted treachery. My father and my uncles all served, my mother and aunt also worked in factories supplying the forces. They all thankfully survived but millions didn’t. Many millions suffered horrendously, dying directly from the conflict or by starvation, torture and the obscene cruelty of the Nazis. More than I could imagine in my nightmares were innocent babies, children, women, the elderly, minorities and those with disabilities, imprisoned in concentration camps to be tortured then gassed. My heart breaks to contemplate their suffering and I rage to think anyone could ever believe that these atrocities could be justified. So I say to those who voted for Trump who said, according to General Kelly, “Hitler did some good things,” shame on you and may you reap the whirlwind you’ve sown. Your fallen service people will be turning in their graves at your stupidity and ignorance.

Not all of us voted for evil. We had such hope of building upon the successes of the Biden administration. But it has been revealed that a great portion of our

populace is incredibly stupid - and the Republicans like it that way, even going so far as getting rid of our Dept. of Education. And those stupid people are proud of that stupidity! They wear it like a badge of honor, as proof of their “rugged individualism, an American myth.

Years ago, on my way to work, I would pass a school which had the following quote engraved on a wall, “An educated populace is easy to govern, impossible to enslave.” (Often attributed to Thomas Jefferson, but also to Henry Burroughs). We are at that tipping point.

Those of us who watched in horror as the results came in are not giving up. We have to work even harder at saving our country.

Why so few likes? The truth one would expect, be in the millions in The United States of America. Except, the erosion of education that incudes history and civics since the mid-60’s, when a reactionary fear of teaching the importance of how our government works. And the principles of Democracy. Along with the value of understanding History. Specifically, the Rise and Fall of Civilizations. Has left American children woefully undereducated. Along with education in Reading the Classics, They have not been educated on how to reason, think, comprehend and understand what and why governments fail. Nor to they have exposure to how citizens work together for co-operation, beyond survival so the greatest number thrive. Is it any wonder, our cities and countries are devolving? Obviously not. They have no inspiration, nor example to refer to, nor follow.

I apologize for the idiots who did this to the world. Remember, only 49% of the voters did this.

Just LOOK at the staggering STUPIDITY of large percentages of people from marginalized groups targeted by Project 2025 who voted FOR their Executioners!

Or the morons who voted for Trump because of the price of gas (which is lower now than it was through most of Trump’s presidency) and are NOW (AFTER they voted!) googling “what is a tariff”!!!! Fucking idiots!

I tried to tell them the Executive Branch has VERY LITTLE to do with the price of gas or eggs, but BILLIONAIRE oil barons & PRICE GOUGERS do! So what did they do? Elect Trump & his BILLIONAIRE THUG, Elon Musk to GUARANTEE we'll continue to be gouged. Almost at the speed of SPACE X.

”The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity. The realisation of how stupid they have been may well be beginning to dawn on some Trump voters. But all too late.

Yes — I’m terrified too. We can’t look away from the realities …

It remains to be seen how far the Christo-fascist bend will go. I will continue to illuminate the wise words of the brilliant philosopher Hannah Arendt:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (i.e., the reality of experience) and the distinction between true and false (i.e., the standards of thought) no longer exist.”

“Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by its extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends entirely on the power of the man who can fabricate it.”

“The trouble with Eichmann was precisely that so many were like him, and that the many were neither perverted nor sadistic, that they were, and still are, terribly and terrifyingly normal. From the viewpoint of our legal institutions and of our moral standards of judgment, this normality was much more terrifying than all the atrocities put together.”

“Evil comes from a failure to think. It defies thought for as soon as thought tries to engage itself with evil and examine the premises and principles from which it originates, it is frustrated because it finds nothing there. That is the banality of evil.”

“Good can be radical; evil can never be radical, it can only be extreme, for it possesses neither depth nor any demonic dimension yet--and this is its horror--it can spread like a fungus over the surface of the earth and lay waste the entire world. Evil comes from a failure to think.”

“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.”

In our fatally busy world, few have time for CRITICAL THINKING, and many votes are based entirely on sound-bytes.

Never hopeless. We are in mourning and with all these brilliant minds surely can come up with something. I would say assignation to all 3 and Musk, but people would be horrified at such a comment. I am too old and not got the skill nor the opportunity but someone in law must search the laws and find the solution. Assignation would be too many because SCOTUS traitors would have to go as well. Our country is f- ed up right now. What do we do. Don't hide and pretend this option has not crossed the deep dark recesses of your mind but civil reality comes back to miurn as it has mine.

It has reached in the dark recesses of my mind as well. But as you said, the list is too long to comprehend. Thus it wouldn't be assassinations it would be war. I would gladly take up arms at my age to fight and defend the Constitution and save the principles that our country was founded on. It would be the USA of the New Revolution. So we need to rebel. Stupidity cannot be fixed but it can be destroyed.

You are right we can't tear it down and build back better, it would be so much worse. I picture ruins as in Ukraine and Gaza and we are better than that and this morning on Morning Joe they are blaming the loss on the Democrats. I just don't get the logic.

I think the word you meant was:

{Assassination} 1. murder by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons : the act or an instance of assassinating someone (such as a prominent political leader)

2. treacherous destruction of a person's reputation

character assassination

▪︎▪︎▪︎NOT▪︎▪︎▪︎⤵️

{Assignation} 1. a secret or forbidden arrangement to meet, esp one between lovers. 2. the act of assigning; assignment.

Both are very powerful words in their own right. I've never had a murderous thought towards anyone...until 2016.

Fascinating to learn how timeless these lessons are. Yet had we known them at the start, how could we have fought such a behemoth? It's like once stupidity gets in, it's a cancer that grows until ask is destroyed. It's also wildly contagious. I'll be checking out more of this company's videos. Some links are on YouTube.

The GOP has been degrading education for years. The cohort of today’s students will be less able to do critical thinking and have less media literacy than voters of this generation.

The struggle is at school boards. Stopping book banning , teaching honest history, protecting teachers and librarians from those who threaten to keep them from doing their jobs.

We can analyze why the Democrats lost but more important is to realize that Trump won by following Hitler’s playbook and that this is the beginning, not the conclusion of following that strategy. To know what will happen next, look at how other elected leaders made themselves autocrats. Hitler, Putin, Orban, Pinochet, Xi.

IT CAN HAPPEN HERE.

I have been sharing this substack far and wide across family and friends. The biggest lesson I learned from this election was this issue of stupidity.

That's why I don't care right now. Protest? Resistance? Nope. I'm done. Protest and become a Fox News story? To make me the enemy AGAIN? Not falling for it.

This is what you wanted so eat shit and live with it. I'm aware I'll suffer, too, but at least I'll take pleasure in seeing your face when you realize what you've done.

I find it hilarious that the question "What are tariffs?" is now being searched on Google, AFTER the election.

If you need to buy anything new, buy it now, before the asshole gets in and the tariffs make a new microwave unaffordable. But please don't tell your maga neighbors about it.

Why wasn't this information disclosed, DISTRIBUTED, and repeated on an hourly and daily basis BEFORE THE ELECTION!

Expand full comment

There Was a Large amount of Information Distributed and Available. For those who wanted it, obviously just over half weren’t interested, didn’t wanted to be bothered. The scoffed at the information when it was brought to their attention. Not pleasant, fun or distracting enough for them. Or scary to them. They preferred to be entertained. The candidate they chose Was and always had been an Entertainer. Who played a role, a pretender to be a “Successful” businessman, for the purpose or ATV Show.

To make a Profit. Not even an actor, just an often failed, multi-time Bankrupt Businessman failure. Blew wealth inherited from Daddy. A new commodity a “Reality” Star. Fake it if you can Fool ‘em ( viewers) TV Entertainers, with No Experience in Government except, how to get away with Avoiding Laws, regulations, to avoid Business Expenses. Fooled a lot of people, one thing the guy was good at, Smarmy faux charm. Lies and Propaganda. Experience and preparation it turns out for Fascism.
